PAULO FREIRE E O MATERIALISMO HISTÓRICO: UM ESTUDO DE “EXTENSÃO OU COMUNICAÇÃO?”

Abstract

Resumo advindo do próprio trabalho: "Este artigo tem como objeto de investigação a presença do Materialismo Histórico em Paulo Freire, particularmente no livro Extensão ou Comunicação?. Escrito em 1969, no Chile, ocasião em que o educador brasileiro coordenou o projeto extensionista do Instituto de Capacitación e Investigación en Reforma Agrária (ICIRA), o livro problematiza a questão da educação no campo, a partir de algumas teses fundamentais propostas pelo humanista brasileiro. A hipótese central deste estudo reside na afirmativa de que Paulo Freire, ao propor uma educação libertadora e dialógica junto ao trabalho educativo do agrônomo e de camponeses, recorre ao Materialismo Histórico como método de investigação social e histórica. Se essa obra já demarca, teoricamente, o materialismo no pensamento de Freire, suas análises acerca da sociedade e da educação brasileira alcançaram o ápice em Pedagogia do oprimido, produção de maior referência do autor, ainda hoje, no campo das ciências sociais."Summary coming from the work itself: "This article has as object of investigation the presence of Historical Materialism in Paulo Freire, particularly in the book “Extensão ou Comunicação?”. Written in 1969, in Chile, when the Brazilian educator coordinated the extension project of the Institute for Training and Research in Agrarian Reform (ICIRA), the book problematizes the issue of education in the countryside, based on some fundamental theses proposed by the Brazilian humanist. The central hypothesis of this study lies in the assertion that Paulo Freire, in proposing a liberating and dialogic education with the educational work of agronomists and peasants, refers to Historical Materialism as a method of social and historical research. If this work already demarcates, theoretically, materialism in Freire’s thinking, his analyzes of Brazilian society and education reached the maximum in Pedagogy of the oppressed, the author’s most important book, still today, in the field of social sciences."
